Tequila is extraordinary because its production still hinges on the centuries-old knowledge of jimadores - farmers who harvest the blue agave plant, and who are able to tell when it's ready to be harvested. Once the spiky leaves are trimmed away, the core of the plant is baked, mashed, and then the juice is fermented and distilled. Depending on the method and time, tequila can be silver (or blanco), joven/oro (flavoured or blended silver tequila), reposado (rested/aged), anejo (aged) or extra anejo. Silver tequila is pretty harsh, but makes a great base for cocktails; while reposado and anejo can make great sipping tequila - in Mexico, it's normally consumed neat, and the differences in quality are easily tasted.

And what's the difference between tequila and mezcal? Well, tequila is always made from blue agave, while mezcal can be from any type of agave. The more you know!

  1. Altos Reposado tequila is made from 100% blue agave grown in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico and aged in former whiskey barrels for 6 to 8 months for good measure. Sweet and citric with notes of vanilla and wood, it's definitely worth the wait. Trust us.
    $61.95 Bottle
  2. Altos Tequila Plata is made from 100% blue agave grown in the Los Altos highlands of Mexico. Complete with herbal notes of cooked agave, our Plata is slightly citric and sweet with a fruity aroma. It's a classic tequila for the modern world.
    $61.95 Bottle
  3. Aromas of fruit, baked fully-ripened agave, green olive, and earth are invitingly present. Slightly brighter and a touch more rustic than the regular blanco, the accents of butter, olive, earth, black pepper, and vegetal qualities in the flavor are enhanced because it comes straight from our small copper pot still, without adding water prior to bottling.
    $161.95 Bottle
  4. Tequila 100% Agave of beautiful transparence, luminous with silver shades, great body and defined flavors. 100% BLUE AGAVE

  5. Tequila that rests in barrels of American White Oak during 11 months, where it gets a smooth aroma, its color and great flavor that distinguishes it like a product of high quality. 100% Blue Agave.

  6. A handmade 100% Agave Mezcal, distilled at the Gracias a Dios ‘Palenque,” or mezcal factory in Matatlan, Oaxaca, with the help of maestro mezcalero Oscar Hernandez. With a strong and aromatic flavour, these spirits are the result of a long quest to find the best mezcal.
    $92.95 Bottle
  7. According to the ancient Mesoamericans, the number 400 was synonymous with innumerable. Don Tacho and his son, Joel Santiago, created and named this mezcal after the belief that the spirits of 400 rabbits take over one's body and behaviour when it is ingested. 400 Conejos Joven Mezcal is produced traditionally using mesquite and encino oak as the heat source to cook the espadín agaves for the underground conical oven.

  8. Don Ramón Punta Diamante Reposado is double-distilled and rested in white oak, resulting in a smooth, subtle taste and robust profile. Made from 100% Blue Agave from the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, this golden spirit can be described as spiced and herbaceous with an essence of caramel pulled from the barrel.
    $57.95 Bottle
  9. Emerged from volcanic shadow, Maestro Dobel is the result of 11 generations of tequila mastery. Sourced from a single estate and crafted from 100% blue agave selected from the lowland family-owned ranches where the terroir produces lighter, herbal and citric aromas. Every step of the process is done meticulously from the harvesting of the agave to the labelling of each bottle with the approving signature from one of two Tequila Maestros entrusted to blend each batch of Maestro Dobel. The world’s first crystal-clear aged tequila with the complexity of aged cognacs, combined with the crispness of luxury vodkas. A true balance of tradition and innovation.
