Brandy is made by distilling wine, and so unsurprisingly, the best brandies usually come from the best winemaking regions. France, of course, is a big player in the brandy world, with two protected brandy types - Cognac as the exclusive name for brandy produced and distilled in the Cognac region, and Armagnac for brandy from the Armagnac/Gascony region.
  1. This is a Croatian Sljivovica Plum spirit (also known as Sljivovitz). The delicious taste and aroma come from the traditional process of distilling ripe plums from the orchards in the surrounding region.
