Brandy is made by distilling wine, and so unsurprisingly, the best brandies usually come from the best winemaking regions. France, of course, is a big player in the brandy world, with two protected brandy types - Cognac as the exclusive name for brandy produced and distilled in the Cognac region, and Armagnac for brandy from the Armagnac/Gascony region.
  1. METAXA 5 Stars has a floral character, revealing notes of muscat and brioche.
    $54.95 Bottle
  2. Best value, best taste and best for drinking. Beehive sits head and shoulders above all other brandies on the shelves in NZ. A bit more money, but well worth it.
    $67.95 Bottle
  3. Aged in small oak barrels, with aromas of dried fruit spices and oak. Owned by Cognac house Camus, this is a wonderfully smooth French brandy with a long finish. Great value everyday brandy.
    $54.95 Bottle
  4. A blend of the finest French brandies distilled, aged and bottled in France. A long period of aging in the best oak casks give De Valcourt Brandy its mellow smoothness and delightful bouquet

  8. A soft but flavoursome, entry-level calvados from Chateau du Breuil. After distillation, they carefully monitor the VSOP for a further 4 years for close over the flavour.
