Despite what the French may tell you, 'Champagne' wine was not invented by the famed monk Dom Pérignon - it was the English! It is largely thanks to 17th-century scientist Christopher Merrit and the superior glass production techniques in England that we have champagne today; though the myth of Perignon stuck better than the truth, and his name is now associated with the prestige cuvee of Moet & Chandon. Now 'Champagne' can refer only to sparkling wine of a certain style, produced in the Champagne region. But while it's the most famous type, don't overlook the extraordinary range of other sparkling wines available, like prosecco and methode traditionelle.
  1. Cristal - incisive, seductive and delicious - has a “slender”, almost “living” freshness. Highly contemporary in its harmony and immediate seductiveness, it nevertheless remains first and foremost a great classic of northern Champagne, combining freshness, energy and an almost chalky mineral quality.
    $499.95 Bottle
  2. Going far beyond rare vintages, Grand Siècle is the blending of three outstanding years declared as vintages by Laurent-Perrier and chosen for their complementary traits.
    $339.95 Bottle
  3. The Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs is Taittinger's prestige cuvee. With a bottle this special, you're going to want to get a few people round to share.
    $349.95 Bottle
  4. Fine bright perlage and light rosé colour. Delicate and complex bouquet with fruity notes that remind of peach, green apple and lemon. Floral notes of acacia and rose. Fresh and light on the palate, with balanced acidity and body. Round and full bodied structure.
    $22.95 Bottle
  5. Strawberry and Raspberry aromatics and flavours, a delicate structure and the beautiful pale pink colour. Adding to this is fresh melon and citrus characters, mid palate texture and fresh acidity.
    $21.95 Bottle
