'Fortified' wines have a distilled spirit (normally brandy) added either during or after fermentation. Originally fortifying wines was a way of preserving them, but distinct styles like Sherry (Jerez), Madeira, Manzanilla, Vermouth and Port developed into popular and rather sophisticated drinks.
  1. Barbadillo's Finos are more Manzanilla-like in style, but are aged in Bodegas with less exposure to the cooling sea breezes. The flor in the barrels grows vigorously in these cellars so the wine is a little more nutty and toasty than the more appley and yeasty Manzanillas of Sanlucar.

  2. Barbadillo is the largest producer of Manzanilla in the whole of the Jerez region. This dry, fino style sherry is from the coastal region of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, lending a slightly salty twist.

  8. Intense, with a very dense colour and delicate brownish reflections, characteristic of an evolution taking place in bottle. Appetising, fresh and alluring aroma, black plum, cassis, anise and tobacco notes and a slight touch of lavender. Creamy mouth, very aromatic, cocoa, cherry and pipe tobacco. It is refreshing without being heavy, good tannin structure and a long and aromatic finish. Today, it is a harmonious and elegant wine. Age gave it a fine delicacy, but it still can and should mature for long years.

The nose displays the ripe strawberry and blackcurrant fruitiness and resiny notes of rock rose and eucalyptus that are the essence of the Croft Vintage Port style. The palate opens with a surge of rich berry fruit flavour and is supported by a dense mesh of close-knit tannins. Although the wine displays some of the plump, rubenesque character of prior Croft vintages, the accent here is on symmetry and finesse. The characteristically exuberant fruit and heady herbal aromas are carefully modulated and the wine is classical in its proportions. An elegant and aromatic Vintage Port, perfectly poised between opulence and restraint.

  11. Tio Pepe en Rama is an unfiltered and unclarified Tio Pepe, bottled during spring when the flor growth is at its thickest."En Rama" is the term used in the bodega for sherry in its raw, most delicate state, as if drinking directly from the cask itself.
