'Fortified' wines have a distilled spirit (normally brandy) added either during or after fermentation. Originally fortifying wines was a way of preserving them, but distinct styles like Sherry (Jerez), Madeira, Manzanilla, Vermouth and Port developed into popular and rather sophisticated drinks.
  1. For over 170 years, Dubonnet Rouge Grand Aperitif de France has been celebrated around the world as an authority on the aperitif tradition. Crafted from a proprietary blend of red wine, herbs and spices.
    $32.95 Bottle
  2. Deep tawny with a distinctive yellow-green edge characteristic of extended wood maturation. Intense raisin fruits, fruitcake, liquorice, roasted walnuts all integrated together seamlessly with a freshness contradicting age. Classical Penfolds fruitcake, liquorice and vanillin oak flavours with a sweet full and round mid-palate, and a finish that persists on and on.
    $109.95 Bottle
  3. A rich taste with vibrant notes of cocoa and bitter orange. From the infusion of some noble and balsamic woods, we have in the end light aromas of camphor and rosemary notes. Among the minor ingredients, herbs and woods with unique perfumes such as sandal, musk, myrrh and nutmeg.
    $54.95 Bottle
  4. During its history, Cocchi has produced some variants to its Aperitivo Americano. The most recent is Cocchi Rosa produced with a base of red wines of Piedmont to which herbs and spices extracts are added, in particular gentian, cinchona, citrus zests and rose petals.
    $54.95 Bottle
  5. Cocchi Americano, for its nature, represents the link between wine and liquors being a wine plus a small quantity of alcohol bittered (“amaricato”) by the infusion of precious herbs and spices.
    $54.95 Bottle
  6. This wine is a small contribution to the Barossa's great tradition of producing outstanding aged fortified wines. The many years Rockford allow the wine to age in small oak casks encourages the flavours to slowly concentrate and develop into a rich and luscious traditional Barossa Tawny. This blend has an average age of about fifteen years.
    $59.95 Bottle
  7. A light wine of golden color. Very harmonious with delicate aromas of almonds and orange peel. Half dry palate denoting almonds and citrus fruits. With a good end-of-mouth, this is also an excellent appetizer.
    $35.50 Bottle
  8. A medium dark, brownish colour with golden hues. This is a very fragrant wine with wood, spices and caramel aromas. Full bodied and rich on the palate with dried fruits and an harmonious finish.
    $40.95 Bottle
  9. Amber color with greenish reflections, bright and luminous. Pungent, soft and attenuated, with hints of hazelnuts, nuts and wood.
    $44.95 Bottle
  10. Dark mahogany color with iodine reflections. Clean and intense, typical of the variety. Aromas of raisins and ripe fruits.
    $49.95 Bottle
  11. An aperitif with a delicious freshness and great aromatic finesse. Light aromas of berries, orange blossom and grapefruit.
    $39.95 Bottle
  12. Deep purple with ruby rim. Massive concentration of ripe, blackcurrant fruit with mint and chocolate hovering over and underlay of cherries and plums in youthful guise. Deep and full on the palate with great tannic structure and terrific length. Mouth warming and vibrantly youthful.
