New Zealand is most famous on the world wine stage for Sauvignon Blanc, and with good reason. But here at Moore Wilson's we hunt out the best of all the white varieties from local producers, and spice it up with some international contenders from excellent wineries. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris (AKA Pinot Grigio) are the ubiquitous names, but there's plenty more out there: semillon (seh-mi-yohn), viognier, riesling, gewurztraminer...

  1. This is impressively complex and inviting on the nose showing ripe peach, rockmelon, lemon peel, nougat and cedar characters with nuances of flint and spice. The palate is equally gratifying with excellent concentration and expansive mouthfeel, leading to an extremely long engaging finish. Organically produced.

  6. The dry counterpart to Dr. L Riesling, this wine is produced with the same exacting quality standards. Because it is dry, but still beautifully fruity, this wine works with a different range of foods than the regular Dr. L Riesling, making the pair of wines extremely versatile. Dr. L dry embodies the elegant and racy style of Riesling from the slate-soil vineyards of the Mosel valley.

  7. Part of this cuvée is aged in oak barrels and part of it in stainless steel tanks. The result is a combination of freshness, fruitiness and structure and nice body.

  8. Characters of grapefruit, honeysuckle, acacia and a hint of rose spring to mind. The palate possesses a yeasty complexity, due to ageing in old barrels on lees, and racy acidity.
