New Zealand is most famous on the world wine stage for Sauvignon Blanc, and with good reason. But here at Moore Wilson's we hunt out the best of all the white varieties from local producers, and spice it up with some international contenders from excellent wineries. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris (AKA Pinot Grigio) are the ubiquitous names, but there's plenty more out there: semillon (seh-mi-yohn), viognier, riesling, gewurztraminer...

  1. A wide spectrum of aromatics from pear and white peach, citrus, quince and spice notes with an underlying minerality. These aromas are echoed on the palate, highlighted by crisp acidity and a long finish. The texture, freshness and concentrated aromatics mean that this wine will harmonise will with a wide range of dishes.
    $34.95 Bottle
  2. Delightful, fruit-forward style has lovely ripe aromas of pear and stone fruit clean and pure on the palate with some texture and length. Total Bargain.
    $13.95 Bottle
  3. The Chardonnays from 2018 are supple and approachable and this makes the typically fragrant Hunting Hill very pretty, with its lemon/lime blossom aromas and hint of orange. The palate has a supple texture and lingering flavour which provides a long finish, and it has a salty, mineral tang on the end.
    $89.95 Bottle
  4. Coddington is the most approachable in its youth. The subtle characteristics of the estate Chardonnay are amplified here, but kept in check with a line of acidity that keeps this very moreish wine lightweight and balletic.
    $72.95 Bottle
  5. This elegant Chardonnay has wonderful minerality and flavours of orange blossom, lemon curd, honeysuckle and stone fruit mingled with toasted cumin seeds and struck match.
    $29.95 Bottle
  6. Classic stonefruit characteristics of apricot, white peach with floral details and subtle creaminess on the palate.
    $27.95 Bottle
  7. The special occasion version of the much loved Elephant Hill chardy. Broad and oaky with vanilla bean, buttery notes already seeping through the cracks of minerality.
    $39.95 Bottle
  8. Creamy and rich with subtle French Oak enveloping an array of juicy stonefruit. Lees ageing adds biscuity flavours to the palate, finishing long and fresh. Top class Chardy!
    $43.95 Bottle
  9. Mondillo's Single vineyard 2019 Dry Riesling, has enticing aromas of citrus fruit, peaches and honeysuckle with a crisp, dry finish.
    $29.95 Bottle
  10. The colour is bright lemon, with aromas of citrus (lime/ mandarin), stone fruit (apricot/ peach/nectarine) and also honeydew melon. Layered beneath there are floral notes reminiscent of honeysuckle and jasmine. While the influence of botrytis adds concentration and richness on the palate, there is also a seam of crisp acidity that ensures the wine remains fresh and lively, with a balanced and lingering finish.
    $42.95 Bottle
  11. Pure, crisp and dry wine with a fine minerality and delicacy of structure. Pear, quince and peach flavours dominate.
    $22.95 Bottle
  12. A kaleidoscope of grapiness, produced exclusively from hand harvested grapes in predominantly clay and limestone vineyards, from a dozen of the most favored localities in and around Riquewihr. Gentil "Hugel" allies the suave, spicy flavour of Gewurztraminer, the body of Pinot Gris, the finesse of Riesling, the grapiness of Muscat and the refreshing character of both Pinot Blanc and Sylvaner.
