New Zealand is most famous on the world wine stage for Sauvignon Blanc, and with good reason. But here at Moore Wilson's we hunt out the best of all the white varieties from local producers, and spice it up with some international contenders from excellent wineries. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris (AKA Pinot Grigio) are the ubiquitous names, but there's plenty more out there: semillon (seh-mi-yohn), viognier, riesling, gewurztraminer...

  1. Escarpment is excited to be able to release this Single Vineyard Pinot Blanc from its Te Muna Road Vineyard. Our site ideally suits Pinot Noir so classic Pinot Blanc is assured with its spicy subtle fruit flavours and its ability to truly reflect its terroir.
    $24.95 Bottle
  2. Very fine, built to age. Find a nice dusty dark corner under the stairs, stack a few cases of this wine and drink a bottle every 6 months until you unlock its full potential...or just enjoy now!
    $44.95 Bottle
  3. The most impressive Sauvignon Blanc we've tried recently. Superb depth, ridiculously fragrant, zinging acidity, tropical lushness and perfect balance.
    $20.95 Bottle
  4. A serious, concentrated and expressive wine, Vavasour Sauvignon Blanc flaunts a powerful bouquet of fresh herbs, tropical fruits and bright citrus. Ripe stone fruit flavours and a distinct minerality hold up well to rich, spicy foods.
    $20.95 Bottle
  5. Dry as bone, flinty, crisp and steely. Riesling for riesling fans. Try with a 5 spice pork roast. Produced organically.
    $26.95 Bottle
  6. The aromas and flavours suggest citrus fruits, greengage, gooseberry and passionfruit with a hint of Turkish musk and freshly crushed thyme.
    $27.95 Bottle
  7. Though an acre on Waiheke Island (seems to) cost more than an acre in Central London,Valhalla is one of this country's great wines for the price. Fine, silky full flavoured and rich.
    $45.95 Bottle
  8. An abundance of fruit and natural sugar with fresh vibrant acidity and a minerality towards the end which is further enhanced by natural carbon dioxide and fruit tannin giving a satisfyingly long dry thirst quenching finish.
    $32.95 Bottle
  9. Very intense and fruity nose with notes of white flowers and quince.
    $31.95 Bottle
  10. Often overlooked because of its famous (little sister) the Savvy, but Cloudy Bay's Chardonnay is those-in-the-know's choice. All peaches with buttery oak and a fine acidity.
    $49.95 Bottle
  11. A broad, complex sauv blanc with an excellent, long zingy finish. There is some creaminess mid palate; also, the fresh tropical fruit is retsrained by an underlying slew of minerality. Produced organically.
    $24.95 Bottle
  12. Low alcohol, but still packed to the gills with ripe fruit and crisp gooseberry.Don't zonk out at parties and still enjoy a wine with flavour. A rare thing these days.
    $19.95 Bottle
