New Zealand is most famous on the world wine stage for Sauvignon Blanc, and with good reason. But here at Moore Wilson's we hunt out the best of all the white varieties from local producers, and spice it up with some international contenders from excellent wineries. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris (AKA Pinot Grigio) are the ubiquitous names, but there's plenty more out there: semillon (seh-mi-yohn), viognier, riesling, gewurztraminer...

  1. Bright pale straw colour with lemon tinges. Lovely fresh aromas of white fleshed peach, roasted cashews and hints river stones and toasted brioche. The palate is immediately open with ripe stonefruit and confit lemon flavours surrounded by a lovely creamy texture, a hint of fine oak, and finishing long with a savoury, flinty twist.

  7. Picked across a 7 day window in wonderful conditions, the earlier fruit showcased fresh nashi pear and slatey minerality through a clean tank ferment. The later picked fruit was barreled down and fermented to bring a depth of flavour, texure and palate weight to the wine adding notes of sweet spice, and poached pear dessert. The combination of the two parcels leads to a wine of purity and complexity, with balance and a lingering finish.

  8. A restrained Chardonnay which will unfold with time. Pure citrus notes are supported by gentle mealiness from yeast influence, all encapsulated by balanced acidity. The beautiful structure of Chardonnay enables graceful bottle development, this wine is poised to do just that. Fine subtle sweet French oak completes this elegant wine.
