New Zealand is most famous on the world wine stage for Sauvignon Blanc, and with good reason. But here at Moore Wilson's we hunt out the best of all the white varieties from local producers, and spice it up with some international contenders from excellent wineries. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris (AKA Pinot Grigio) are the ubiquitous names, but there's plenty more out there: semillon (seh-mi-yohn), viognier, riesling, gewurztraminer...

  1. Boldly aromatic with delicious hints of rose petal, lychee and ginger. Dry in style with a little residual sugar giving a soft, lasting finish. Great with lightly spiced dishes.
    $22.95 Each
  2. This an immediately appealing wine with lovely pear and stone fruit aromas accompanied by a touch of spice. The palate is just off dry and shows ripe, orchard fruit flavours with a creamy finish, lovely weight and rich texture.
    $18.95 Each
  3. This chardonnay is medium bodied with complex structure and balanced acidity. Aromas of peach, ripe pear, vanilla and toasted hazelnuts give way to flavours of honeydew, pineapple and graham crackers. The finish is rich and juicy.
    $21.95 Each
  4. Produced organically in the Wairarapa. Luscious and rounded on the palate with flavours of citrus, gooseberry and passionfruit. A creamy texture is balanced with fresh acidity.
    $23.95 Each
  5. A rich, complex Martinborough Chardonnay showing intense ripe stone fruit flavours underpinned by subtle spicy and barrel fermentation characters, enhanced by a silky palate texture and a elegant lingering finish.
    $25.95 Each
  6. Pale green gold with silver streaks. Delicate notes of apple blossom, nectarine, honeysuckle, lime zest - with mineral undertones. On the palate -intense lime, zesty mandarin and ripe red apple. Bright acidity brings freshness and balances with generous fruit sweetness. These two aspects are accentuated by the natural spritz retained from fermentation which provides lift in the mid-palate. Th reprise is long and lingering with a satisfyingly crisp clensing texture.
    $29.95 Each
  7. Green gold with silver flecks. Aromas of grapefruit, orange zest, grilled white stone fruits, charred applewood with underlying peach blossom and oyster shell. Fresh citrus dominates with crunchy nectarine, crystalized pineapple, sweet baking spice and a saline minerality in support. A fine acid structure is coated with a silky texture to give a long complex finish.
    $48.95 Each
  8. On the nose it’s signature Pinot Grigio having aromas of pear, apple, and citrus with a slight hint of floral character. The palate is bursting with citrus underpinned by round fruit flavours and brisk acidity.
    $12.95 Each
  9. This gorgeous French variety grows well in our Gisborne climate. With citrus, stonefruit and honeysuckle flavours it has a bright acidity and lovely texture.
    $25.95 Each
  10. Medium-bodied, with a focused, mineral length and flavours of crisp apple, lemon and peach.
    $27.95 Each
  11. A fresh, lively palate with white peach and tropical flavours, medium body and length and a chalky, mineral finish.
    $24.95 Each
  12. Probably the best cheap NZ Pinot Gris on the market. A bit drier with some flavoursome tannins, it drinks well with oily fish and finishes clean.
    $13.95 Each
