New Zealand is most famous on the world wine stage for Sauvignon Blanc, and with good reason. But here at Moore Wilson's we hunt out the best of all the white varieties from local producers, and spice it up with some international contenders from excellent wineries. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris (AKA Pinot Grigio) are the ubiquitous names, but there's plenty more out there: semillon (seh-mi-yohn), viognier, riesling, gewurztraminer...

  1. This medium dry Riesling has lifted floral and hazelnut aromas along with typical varietal notes of lime, lemon zest and flint. An elegant finish which lingers with hints of sweet red apple.
    $31.95 Bottle
  2. Fresh citrus and melon flavours dominate with a touch of passionfruit and gooseberry.
    $15.95 Bottle
  3. Demonstrating restrained power, this is a multidimensional Chardonnay with a core of ripe stone fruit and fragrant citrus, overlaid with aromas of roasted nuts, subtle creaminess and a hint of smoky gunflint. The palate is powerful yet fresh and restrained with fine texture, great length and balanced fresh acidity.
    $37.95 Bottle
  4. Strongly aromatic with a crisp vibrancy to the finish; it shows aromas of passion fruit, nectarine and lemongrass alongside other green herbs.
    $15.95 Bottle
  5. Aromas of tropical fruit intertwine with notes of citrus, toast and popcorn that bring to mind the characteristics of great Chardonnay. Careful use of new oak has created a wine that is finely grained and focused, yet shows power, depth of flavour and a lovely mineral core.
    $37.95 Bottle
  6. Pretty aromatics of jasmine and lime sorbet leading to a palate with mandarin, florals and a brilliant rush of lively acidity.
    $28.95 Bottle
  7. Grenache Blanc at its soft savoury best. Think viognier with the the floral volume on low and the brioche notes on pleasant. A versatile food wine for delicate creamy dishes.
    $31.95 Bottle
  8. Pinot Grigio IS pinot gris, but the Italians work to a much more subtle, dry expression. Try with salmon and asparagus for one of the great wine and food matches.
    $25.95 Bottle
  9. Vavasour Pinot Gris displays a richly structured palate featuring layers of crisp fruit, backed by hints of ginger and the long mineral finish typical of the Awatere Valley. Enjoy this wine as an aperitif or pair it with fresh seafood or spicy Asian dishes.
    $20.95 Bottle
  10. Golden in colour, this Chardonnay opens up in the glass to reveal stone fruit, citrus and subtle oak flavours. This Chardonnay underscores the minerality from our limestone soils. Produced organically.
    $47.95 Bottle
  11. Forrest Estate Riesling

2020 Recommended by Cuisine Magazine February 2021

Kiwi-style Riesling -a delicate off dry wine made in a deliciously juicy fruit driven style. Very pure, citrus/lime and subtle stone-fruit flavours. Intense, concentrated and harmonious with that perfect balance of ripe fruit sweetness, fresh acidity, drying minerality and long long finish.
    $22.95 Bottle
  12. This unique Blanc de Noir was made from 100% Pinot noir grapes. The elegant champagne colour resulted from minimal skin contact prior to a gentle whole bunch press.
    $27.95 Bottle
