New Zealand is most famous on the world wine stage for Sauvignon Blanc, and with good reason. But here at Moore Wilson's we hunt out the best of all the white varieties from local producers, and spice it up with some international contenders from excellent wineries. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris (AKA Pinot Grigio) are the ubiquitous names, but there's plenty more out there: semillon (seh-mi-yohn), viognier, riesling, gewurztraminer...

  1. Pale green gold with silver streaks. Delicate notes of apple blossom, nectarine, honeysuckle, lime zest - with mineral undertones. On the palate -intense lime, zesty mandarin and ripe red apple. Bright acidity brings freshness and balances with generous fruit sweetness. These two aspects are accentuated by the natural spritz retained from fermentation which provides lift in the mid-palate. Th reprise is long and lingering with a satisfyingly crisp clensing texture.
    $34.95 Each
  2. Green gold with silver flecks. Aromas of grapefruit, orange zest, grilled white stone fruits, charred applewood with underlying peach blossom and oyster shell. Fresh citrus dominates with crunchy nectarine, crystalized pineapple, sweet baking spice and a saline minerality in support. A fine acid structure is coated with a silky texture to give a long complex finish.
    $51.95 Each
  3. On the nose it’s signature Pinot Grigio having aromas of pear, apple, and citrus with a slight hint of floral character. The palate is bursting with citrus underpinned by round fruit flavours and brisk acidity.
    $12.95 Each
  4. This gorgeous French variety grows well in our Gisborne climate. With citrus, stonefruit and honeysuckle flavours it has a bright acidity and lovely texture.
    $25.95 Each
  5. Medium-bodied, with a focused, mineral length and flavours of crisp apple, lemon and peach.
    $34.95 Each
  6. A fresh, lively palate with white peach and tropical flavours, medium body and length and a chalky, mineral finish.
    $31.95 Each
  7. Probably the best cheap NZ Pinot Gris on the market. A bit drier with some flavoursome tannins, it drinks well with oily fish and finishes clean.
    $13.95 Each
  8. A delicately luscious wine that exudes the elegance of ripe pear, crisp apple, and subtle notes of floral and honeysuckle. Its smooth texture makes it impeccably delicious, offering a seamless tasting experience that is perfect for savouring on its own. Indulge in this refined Pinot Gris, where every sip reveals the craftsmanship and the exquisite balance of flavours.
    $16.95 Each
  9. Perfumed aromas of apricots, nectarines and green pears. A rich mid-palate displaying mild oak influence. The wine finishes dry and crisp with lingering hints of warming spice.
    $22.95 Each
  10. A dry white wine, which exhibits typical Viognier aromas of peach and apricot blossom and ripe stone fruit. A big rich wine full of fruit sweetness delivering a long and satisfying finish.
    $20.95 Each
  11. Medium-dry riesling with lime, white flowers and a suggestion of oyster shell. There’s a perfect blend of sweetness with fruity acidity which gives the wine tension.
    $27.95 Each
  12. A gently rich, rounded Chardonnay, from a fantastic vintage, predominantly grown on a warmer inland vineyard, showing ripe peach with creamy texture and balancing citrus freshness.
    $59.95 Each
