New Zealand is most famous on the world wine stage for Sauvignon Blanc, and with good reason. But here at Moore Wilson's we hunt out the best of all the white varieties from local producers, and spice it up with some international contenders from excellent wineries. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris (AKA Pinot Grigio) are the ubiquitous names, but there's plenty more out there: semillon (seh-mi-yohn), viognier, riesling, gewurztraminer...

  1. Finely made, balanced, fresh and not overly oaky (if any). The fruit shines with a crisp underlying minerality that lives long in the mouth after you've swallowed.
    $17.95 Bottle
  2. Craggy Range Gimblett Gravels Chardonnay

2022 ***** Five Stars Michael Cooper - Listener Feb 2020

Full bodied with ripe tropical fruit and firm oak influences. A well balanced Chardonnay that will reward short to medium term cellaring.
    $36.95 Bottle
  3. At first the wine displays an enticing bouquet of dried herbs and aromatic citrus fruit with a hint of the stony elements which follow in the mouth. The broad and lush white fleshed fruit in the entry is wonderfully restrained by the saline laced acid on the long, calm finish.
    $26.95 Bottle
  4. Made by the talented team at Palliser Estate in Martinborough. Buttery notes, creamy and tropical fruit driven. Classy and affordable.
    $24.95 Bottle
  5. Dog Point Chardonnay

2020 - Listener Best Buy White Wine - Michael Cooper

This is really something else. So much flavour mid palate, toasted oak on the finish and a rich vein of acidity through out. A perfect wine for whitebait fritters. Made from organic grapes.
    $43.95 Bottle
  6. You know it. I know it. What is there to say? A dependable, all rounder from the Villa Maria stable. It drinks well on its own or with seafood.
    $14.95 Bottle
  7. Blank Canvas Reed Chardonnay

2022 - Listener Best Buy White Wine - Michael Cooper

Richly textured and complex Chardonnay from travelling winemaker Matt Thomson. We were blown away with the quality - balance, complexity, everything you'd want in a serious quality chardonnay, and an affordable price. You'll need more than one bottle
    $48.95 Bottle
  8. Babich Chardonnay Irongate

2022 - Listener Best Buy White Wine - Michael Cooper

Irongate is named after the 25 foot deep schist of minerals that runs beneath the soil it's made from. A broad minerally chardonnay with excellent depth and acidity.
    $37.95 Bottle
  9. Main Divide Chardonnay

2023 - Listener Best Buy White Wine - Michael Cooper

Aromas and flavours of lemons, peaches and melon intertwined with complexing hints of buttered corn. Harmonious with a backbone of flinty minerality that helps draw out its length.
    $17.95 Bottle
  10. Hand harvested grapes from Hawke's Bay were whole bunch pressed then part fermented in French oak barriques.
    $15.95 Bottle
  11. A fine organic Chardonnay from Gisborne. Ripe melon and pineapple flavour with complex oak and savoury notes. Medium bodied with a powerful mid-palate and lasting finish.
    $36.95 Bottle
  12. Often overlooked because of its famous (little sister) the Savvy, but Cloudy Bay's Chardonnay is those-in-the-know's choice. All peaches with buttery oak and a fine acidity.
    $49.95 Bottle
