New Zealand is most famous on the world wine stage for Sauvignon Blanc, and with good reason. But here at Moore Wilson's we hunt out the best of all the white varieties from local producers, and spice it up with some international contenders from excellent wineries. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris (AKA Pinot Grigio) are the ubiquitous names, but there's plenty more out there: semillon (seh-mi-yohn), viognier, riesling, gewurztraminer...

  1. Barrel fermentation gives texture and complexity with underlying ripe fruit core. Cashew and almond combine with ripe white peach in an elegant, poised and rich palate.
    $29.95 Each

  2. Very expressive, notes of roasted almonds-hazelnuts, confited citrus fruit and a good dose of vanilled butter and toasted bread.
    $21.95 Each
  3. This Chardonnay has a full, broad nose of refreshing and bright aromas of ripe yellow stone fruits and citrus fruits along with an edge of creamy and nutty barrel-ferment and spicy oak notes, subtle lemon-curd and buttery MLF notes. The palate has flavours of citrus fruits melded with creamy barrel-ferment and nutty, spicy oak.
    $22.95 Each
  4. Produced in the Hawkes Bay and always popular. Oak ageing has added complexity to the ripe tropical fruit flavours.
    $19.95 Each
  5. Elegant in structure showing green melon and citrus peel aromas. Creamy in the midpalate giving weight and texture, with the acidity assisting the linearity and length.
    $39.95 Each
  6. Fresh, medium bodied Marlborough Chardonnay with good acidity and a lasting finish. Oak provides a nice backbone of weight and texture.
    $18.95 Bottle
  7. The perfect aperitif Chardonnay, it's a wine that pairs very well with all types of seafood. This vintage is 30% fermented in old French oak barrels and 70% in stainless steel tanks. The barrel fermentation adds richness without overwhelming oak influence, while the tank fermentation lets the vibrant fruit shine. Expect lively lime and lemon aromas, complemented by a flinty, mineral palate with notes of fig and white peach.
    $20.95 Each
  8. So fine! Rich, ripe stone fruits, balanced with pronounced minerality/oyster shell note, and harmonious oak. Hard to resist now, but great ageing potential too.
    $79.95 Bottle
