New Zealand is most famous on the world wine stage for Sauvignon Blanc, and with good reason. But here at Moore Wilson's we hunt out the best of all the white varieties from local producers, and spice it up with some international contenders from excellent wineries. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris (AKA Pinot Grigio) are the ubiquitous names, but there's plenty more out there: semillon (seh-mi-yohn), viognier, riesling, gewurztraminer...

  1. Oakier than a fleet of seventeenth century warships. There’s no shortage of oak in this version, as its rich, cedary aromas declare. Intense, fleshy fruit fills the mouth, orange-peel notes mingling with spice and vanilla.
    $21.95 Bottle
  2. From Te Mata in the Hawkes Bay comes this classy Chardonnay. Oak ageing and malolactic fermentation adds character and finesse.
    $24.95 Bottle
  3. Soft and rounded Chardonnay with flavours of melon, citrus, butterscotch and soft oak. A great option with roast chicken and creamy cheeses.
    $15.95 Bottle
  4. Truly a step up for entry level NZ chard in an international context. A perfectly balanced, phenolic crowd pleaser using oak to mute the mouthwatering macon-esque zing.
    $15.95 Bottle
  5. Refined on the nose and palate with aromas of hazelnut and peaches. Great length with a mineral backbone and very rich flavours. Will benefit from cellaring.
    $99.95 Bottle

  6. Herzog's tiny production, organic wines are highly sought after. The Chardonnay is no exception. Orange blossom, lime and chamomile… Persistent flavours give way to a generous creamy palate. Cellaring potential for up to 10 years.
    $59.95 Bottle
  7. Petit Chablis comes from the outlying areas of the Chablis appelation. Predominantly clay soils, unlike the chalky limestone of the vineyards in Chablis. This William Fevre Petit Chablis is fresh, fruity and floral with mineral notes. A light and lively wine.
    $52.95 Bottle
  8. Truly an American Chardonnay. Big, as in OTT big, lashings of oak and fruit and enough kick to lay out a whole troup of martial artists...the Dolph Lundgren of whites. Raaar.
    $25.95 Bottle
  9. Lifted fruit aromas of nectarines and pineapple have integrated harmoniously with the oak to produce a wine of great texture with creamy, nutty characters on the palate.
    $25.95 Bottle
  10. Appealing notes of citrus, toasted almond and apple on the nose, with a focused and bright palate. Biodynamically grown, and Certified Organic.
    $24.95 Bottle
  11. Stone fruits - flint and nuttiness from barrel fermentation with natural yeasts. Rich and concentrated with texture and drive. Central Otago vineyard blend : Bannockburn / Gibbston Valley / Lowburn
    $32.95 Bottle
  12. An inviting and complex nose of almond and apricot kernel with our distinctive white florals. It’s less citrus focussed than normal, expressing more in the stonefruit spectrum due to the warmer 2018 growing season. Winemaking is minimalist: not fined or filtered, allowing for greater expression of place over process. The various vineyard components of this Bannockburn bottling contribute to a palate that is textural, nutty and very long.
    $57.95 Bottle
